Rainy Days

“The voice of the Lord echoes from the clouds. The God of glory thunders through the skies.” (Psalms 29:3)

I like rainy days. My inner bookworm hovers near the surface, hoping and praying for that bit of quiet paradise with a cup of my favorite tea, a cat or two snuggling on my lap and, of course, a good book to enjoy. Sometimes it’s a new story. But, many other times, I simply pick up an old favorite and re-visit some old friends. Here are some of my favorites:

1. The Tiger’s Woman by Celeste De Blasis
2. Wild Swan by Celeste De Blasis
3. The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
4. Those Miller Girls by Alberta Wilson Constant
5. The Night Child by Celeste De Blasis (you’re probably already figured out she’s a favorite; everything of hers is gold to me)
6. The Harry Potter books by J. K. Rowling
7. The Gallagher series by Nora Roberts
8. The Seventh Sister by Lou Gramm
9. Remember This Dream by Harold Gershowitz
10. The Emigrant series by Wilhelm Moberg
11. The Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini
12. Rodzina by Karen Cushman

What are some of yours? I’d be delighted if you’d share some of them in the comments section below. I may not get to read them today; I’m working this rainy day but I might just be tempted to pick up a copy to enjoy on another rainy day.

May God bless you & keep you!

  1. My time for reading is fairly limited & to be totally honest, I’m a bit embarrassed to share because I don’t usually read anything of importance. I subscribe to Bookbub and they send me a list on my phone and it usually includes several “Free” books. My preference is spy thriller/romantic suspense……you know – “ex-Navy Seal is assigned to protect Jane Doe but little do they know the harrowing event they are about to go through together, which will inevitably result in them falling in love with each other”……..yada…yada…..yada…… and I kinda just read them one after the other……not even really paying attention to who the author is………kind of like a “chain smoker”……..lol……. So, basically I just read “fluff”…..nothing to improve my life or learn anything helpful. Although I will always contend that I DO learn new things even via reading Fiction.I love to be transported away to another place and time via their adventures. And with Bookbub, I always have a book with me because it’s on my phone. But of course I also love REAL paper books as well.

  2. For a rainy day, I love anything by Rosamunde Pilcher… but my favorite is her novel Coming Home, just so cozy and enjoyable. There is also something I love about a mystery when it is gloomy out, and anything Barbara Vine is my favorite for those.
